Growing up in Northwest Oregon, Matt was greeted with a front yard view of Mount St. Helens daily.  One of Matt's earliest adventuring conquests was completing the legendary Mount St. Helens bike race Tour De Blast shortly after graduating high school.  Now after many years of an outdoors career spanning trail building, wildland firefighting, environmental research, and wildlife surveying, Matt is bringing his passion and love of nature back to the volcano that helped shape his life.  When Matt is not working in nature, well he is probably out recreating in it unless there is a Trail Blazers game on. Matt enjoys getting out in the wilds of the Northwest searching for rare amphibians, rockhounding, taking pictures, and chasing waterfalls.
