Alyssa Hoyt, Executive Director [interim] & Strategic Projects Director

Alyssa Hoyt, with her substantial background in nonprofit consulting within the Portland Metro region, brings a wealth of expertise to the Mount St. Helens Institute. Having played an instrumental role in various areas including organizational equity committees, strategic planning, adult learning curricula, and community-led recreation site design, Alyssa's involvement with MSHI originated from an organizational development plan she wrote for her Master's of Public Administration capstone project. Her passion for the transformative power of nature fuels her work at MSHI. She believes that experiences such as the awe of witnessing Mount St. Helens or the wonder of gazing at a sky full of stars can profoundly change perspectives. Alyssa is dedicated to facilitating these experiences for others, making the world a little bit better one person at a time.

Outside of work, Alyssa is a dedicated mother of five and an aspiring tree nerd who serves on the board of the Columbia Play Project. If she isn't running with friends, trying new foods, or exploring a new trail, you can find her on her family's small permaculture farm in Battle Ground.
