Private Family Adventures

Explore a unique side of Mount St. Helens with your family. Whether in winter, spring or summer Mount St. Helens has stories to tell! Inspire your curiosity about Mount St. Helens and increase your comfort exploring the outdoors.

• Duration: 4-hour and 6-hour trips
• Maximum Group Size: 12 people
• Location:
  • Northwest side of Mount St. Helens in the blast zone of the May 18, 1980 eruption along WA State highway 504. All trips meet at the Mount St. Helens Science & Learning Center and explore nearby trails such as the Coldwater Lake Boardwalk Trail, Hummocks Trail and South Coldwater Trail.
  • Guided trips to Ape Cave may be available.
• Distance and terrain: We will explore both on hiking trails and off-trail in open and forested terrain. The distance we hike will depend on the comfort of the participants, the weather, and the terrain. We will determine the distance and difficulty of our adventure based on your needs.
• Permits: No permits are necessary. 
• Availability: June through November
