About
Abi is a dedicated nonprofit leader with over two decades of experience in environmental education, community engagement, and the collaborative stewardship of natural and cultural resources. She joined the Mount St. Helens Institute (MSHI) in 2012 as the Science and Education Programs Manager, became Programs Director in 2018, and was named Co-Executive Director in 2025.
Throughout her career, Abi has worked across nonprofits, government agencies, and public schools and has cultivated strong partnerships with federal, tribal, state, and nonprofit organizations. She has secured and managed significant grant funding to expand program access and long-term sustainability. Abi excels in strategic planning, staff development, and thought partnerships that inspire organizational growth and meaningful change.
Committed to equity, safety, and relevance, she is passionate about helping all people discover the awe and wonder of the natural world and connecting communities to Mount St. Helens.
Outside work, Abi enjoys tending to her large garden, hiking and foraging in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest with her energetic dog Monte, reading science fiction, and cooking with friends and family.
