Forest Floor Ecology Hike
Uncover the world of snails, slugs and salamanders with an MSHI Wildlife Biologist. See the forest in a new light as we identify common and rare species, explore the habitats unique to species, and learn about their role in forest ecology. If we're lucky, we will find rare Van Dyke’s Salamanders and Malone Jumping Slugs!
- Distance: Up to 2 miles in off trail terrain (3.2 km)
- Duration: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Meeting Location: TBD, south side of Mount St. Helens. Will be one of the following: Ape Cave, Trail of Two Forests, Pine Creek Information Station, or Cedar Flats. Exact meeting location provided to participants two weeks before event depending on conditions.
- Minimum Age: All ages. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- Maximum Group Size: 8
- Cost: $75 / person
