Vancouver Views and Brews: Backpacking the Mount St. Helens Area

Come learn about backpacking opportunites in the Mount St. Helens area from wilderness expert, Erik Soltan. Of course there is the epic, round-the-volcano Loowit Trail, but you’ll also hear about opportunities in the Mount Margaret backcountry, the Green River area, the Dark Divide and more! Erik is also an expert in ultralight backpacking, so he’ll give some pointers on how to accomplish your trips with a minimum of weight.
Erik Soltan has been relentlessly exploring the Cascade Mountains for 16 years now, falling more in love with the beautiful Pacific Northwest every year. With an emphasis on high mileage trekking, he has backpacked trails from the Southern California to the North Cascades logging thousands of miles, With a certificate in outdoor education, he is a NOLS WMI Alumni, and a WEA National Standards Graduate in leadership. In addition to his avid outdoors pursuits, he runs a company called “Get Out Backpacking”, reaching out to folks who need the wilderness setting for renewal, knowledge and exercise.
