KABOOM! Volunteers in the Classroom

If you are a teacher in Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, or Multnomah County, Mount St. Helens can come to your class! A trained Mount St. Helens Institute volunteer will present a short slide show and hands-on activities. Activities and lessons are free.

1) There are two application deadlines: October 15th for fall and winter programs, and February 3rd for spring programs. Applications may be submitted any time before the deadline.

Fall and Winter Programs (November 4, 2019 - February 28, 2020):
         Applications Due: October 15, 2019
         Program Schedule Announced: November 1, 2019

Spring Programs (March 2 – June 15, 2020):
         Applications Due: February 3, 2020
         Program Schedule Announced:  February 15, 2020

Our strong preference is for small, class-sized groups with at least 45 minutes to allow enough time for the presentation, student questions and discussion, and an activity.  Sometimes our volunteers can visit more than one classroom per day, and depending on the needs and the schedule of the school/group, sometimes we can send more than one volunteer to your school to visit multiple classrooms at once.

Please also note that while our volunteers can visit more than one class per day, it is our strong preference that schools/groups request times that are as back-to-back as possible.

2) Complete the form to request a few different date options.

Email learn@mshinstitute.org with any questions.
