Traverse the ridgeline that separates the blast zone from the standing dead and hear first-hand accounts of the eruption on May 18, 1980, 40 years ago. We will hike up to Harry's Ridge, named after the lovable curmudgeon who lived along Spirit Lake, where a clear day reveals the breathtaking panorama of this active volcano. Beginning and ending at the Johnston Ridge Observatory. Participation in this hike includes entry to this world-class visitor center.
