In his first year with MSHI, Dave is passionate about helping others to achieve their personal outdoor goals, especially discovering the tremendous sense of accomplishment and serenity to be found on mountain summits. A Midwestern native, he joined the Navy, serving on two submarines, an aircraft carrier, and in a variety of submarine maintenance and research tours, retiring as a Captain. After his Navy career, Dave sought to share his love of the outdoors, working as an Outdoor Adventure Guide in Western Washington and Tucson, Arizona, climbing with the Seattle Mountaineers, and leading outings for the Southern Arizona Hiking Club. His ascents include Mt. Rainier, Little Tahoma, Mt. Baker, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, Sahale Pk., 47 U.S. state highpoints, and numerous multi-pitch rock climbs throughout Arizona, Washington, and the West. Dave holds certifications as a Wilderness First Responder, Avalanche AIARE Level 1, and Leave No Trace Trainer. When not climbing, he enjoys backpacking, mountain biking, road cycling, and kayaking.
