SARAH PHILIPS, Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager

Sarah grew up in suburban Kansas City and first came to the Pacific Northwest as an Environmental Education Intern with MSHI nearly a decade ago. She worked for four more seasons as a USFS interpretive ranger at Mount St. Helens, and has since worked in environmental education with OMSI, Trackers Earth, and the Oregon Zoo. For the past three years she has served as Program Director of the Sauvie Island Center, connecting youth and the community to food, farming, and the land. Sarah is passionate about helping people discover their own personal connection with the natural world, and she is thrilled to be returning to her roots at Mount St. Helens. When she's not working, you can find Sarah hiking, baking, crocheting, playing guitar, or backpacking on her very favorite trail system, the Mount Margaret Backcountry.
