Ray has been with the Institute since 2011 and loves to share his enthusiasm for all things Mount St. Helens. Before working at the Mount St. Helens Institute, Ray was a biologist on the mountain. He earned his Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Washington State University Vancouver, studying the impact of pocket gophers on plants and soil in the Pumice Plain region of Mount St. Helens. Before coming to southwest Washington, Ray worked as a botanist across the Great Basin Desert and Intermountain West. When Ray isn’t on the mountain, you will find him exploring with his family, playing music, fishing or looking for chanterelles. Contact Ray at firstname.lastname@example.org or (360) 449-7883.
