Lucas is a Pacific Northwest native and recent graduate of Western Washington University's Huxley College of the Environment. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography (Environmental Studies) and a minor in Environmental Education. During his time at Western he held education intern positions with the Bellingham Parks department as well as the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association, teaching children around the county about environmental stewardship, native plants and the important aspects of healthy salmon habitat. Before graduating, he also took part in a study abroad program in Peru, where he collected environmental mountain data in the Peruvian Andes as contribution to an ongoing study of the region. While in school he also played collegiate lacrosse and coached local youth teams. When he isn't passing on his knowledge you can find him out on a trail riding his mountain bike, in some water honing his fly fishing skills or listening to music too loud for his own good.
