A lifelong wonder for the outdoors led Tate to pursue a Wilderness EMT certification in 2021, which firmly cemented their passion for conservation, exploration, and education and their effect on our quality of life. They strive to engage in science communication as a way to share the magic of the ground beneath our feet. In pursuit of that goal, Tate took up studying for a dual degree in Anthropology and Multimedia Journalism at Washington State University. (Certified trail press!) Their fascination at the complicated ecology of nature has led them through a range of adventures that have expanded their comfort zone and sharpened their skills in the outdoors, and they are so excited for the opportunity to learn from and contribute to the Mount St. Helens Institute!
