Jenni Kumanchik, Lead Guide, '22, '23

Jenni is in her second year as a Lead Guide and is a native of the Pacific Northwest and a lifelong outdoor enthusiast whose adventures have taken her from the Sierra Nevadas to the Cascades and the trails of southwest Washington. From her earliest memories, she had a passion for the outdoors as she scavenged and collected rocks and was known to leave little cairns wherever she visited. Learning about Mount St Helens in elementary school ignited a new passion for geology and history and she declared at a young age her aspirations to be an educator and a geologist. Little did she know, those dreams would one day intersect and give her the opportunity to teach others about the wonders of Mount St Helens. When not leading adventures with the Mount St Helens Institute, Jenni works as an Adapted Physical Education Specialist teaching students with special needs in Portland, OR. In her spare time, she enjoys a myriad of outdoor activities and quality snuggle time with her dogs, Winnie and Kona.
