Youth Stream Team

Youth Stream Team

Stream Team youths are a special band of scientists in the making. Last summer, during the program’s first year, they learned how to collect fish data on three creeks on the south side of Mount St. Helens. The valuable information they obtained will help scientists re-introduce native fish to the creeks. With funding from the National Forest Foundation and the Bruce and Mary Louise Cook Foundation, the Institute was able to partner with the Vancouver Police Activities League to select 20 youths in 2009.

Thanks to support from National Forest Foundation, Bruce and Mary Louise Cook Foundation, Columbia Sportswear and Korkers, Stream Team will be back out in the field for the summer of 2010, offering urban youths a wildlife experience and a chance to build their leadership skills.
