How We Help Scientists

The Institute helps scientists in many ways.  If you are interested in conducting research at Mount St. Helens, we’d like to hear from you. Email Jeanne at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Some of the ways scientists are supported at Mount St. Helens include:

RESOURCES

The Pacific Northwest Research Station (PNW) has a website with summaries of the biological research done after the May 18, 1980 eruption. The website also has an updated bibliography of published results. The U.S. Geological Survey’s website has geological information about the volcano itself. These two sites are a great place to start if you are learning about Mount St. Helens.

TENT SITE

The Institute provides a tent site near Windy Ridge during summer months for scientists collecting data in the field. If you are scoping out a potential research project and need a place to camp, we may be able to accommodate you. Email Jeanne Bennett at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with the dates of your visit, the number in your party, and your research area of interest.
