MARY LUGG, Science Educator

Mary is a constant learner, explorer, and lover of wild things, and she is very excited about beginning her journey learning and exploring the wilds of Mount St. Helens. Mary moved out West from Oklahoma to attend Willamette University in Salem, Oregon eventually earning her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. Since then, she has worked for a variety of organizations around the PNW such as the Forest Service, the Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center, and the Oregon Zoo. Most Recently Mary has earned her Master’s of Science from the University of Idaho’s McCall Outdoor Science School in Natural Resource Management with an emphasis in Education. She also has a secondary teaching endorsement in Life Sciences from the University of Idaho. Mary is passionate about science education and providing the best learning experience for every student. Even when not working, Mary loves being outside hiking during the summer and skiing during the winter. She enjoys expressing herself artistically through pen and watercolor, travelling to new places through books, and going on long walks and cuddles with her adorable dog, Rex.
